The David L Hoyt Education Foundation was formed to facilitate, enable, and develop play-based learning for students of all ages through programming utilizing expertly crafted games and puzzles. In doing so, our organization strives to make learning accessible, interactive, inclusive, and enjoyable.

The David L. Hoyt Education Foundation, together with the Chicago Public Library, set a Guinness World Record for the largest game of GIANT Word Winder ever played!

David visited 19 Chicago Public Library branches as part of Rahm’s Readers Summer Learning Challenge.

The founders, David L. Hoyt and his wife Claire Haasl, understand that play is endlessly important to creating global citizens who can make strategic decisions and think creatively. In order to fulfill our mission we strive to accomplish the following objectives:  developing curricula for Giant Word Winder and Giant Math Winder; partnering with existing educational and community organizations; providing educational games and/or play-based tools; and providing fundraising tools for those looking to raise money for games.

During the Summer of 2017 we visited 22 Chicago Public Library branches and delivered programming to roughly 500+ kids throughout the city.  We also secured 20 GIANT games  for the CPL branches and helped the CPL set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Playable Word Winder Board. Additionally, through our community outreach we have also served an additional 400+ kids during various events and classroom visits.
